In Alvernia, the strength of the volcanoes can be felt everywhere. Volcanoes are the life source of the region and a unique natural heritage in France and Europe. Twenty-four extinct volcanoes, lined up one against the other, lead to the gates of the city of Clermont-Ferrand forming the Puys chain. A little farther away, the volcanic mountains Dore, Del Cantal and Velay are a real open-air geological museum. An open-air theatre has been created in the basalt cave of the extinct Monpeloux volcano.

I vulcani sono la fonte di vita della regione e un patrimonio naturale unico in Francia e in Europa.Ventiquattro vulcani spenti, allineati l’uno contro l’altro, si susseguono alle porte della città di Clermont-Ferrand andando a formare la catena dei Puys. Un po’ più distante, anche i monti vulcanici Dore, Del Cantal e il Velay sono un vero museo geologico a cielo aperto.Nella cava di basalto del vulcano spento di Monpeloux è stato progettato un teatro all’aperto.
